CZ DUTY 4.0 C
Specs at a glance
About this product
Iowa handgun buyers finally have a new CZ striker pistol to put on the list, and it comes in enough versions to cover carry and range duty alike. The DUTY 4.0 C is the compact at 135 mm tall, the F is the full-size at 143 mm, and each is sold plain or as an MS model with a manual thumb safety. All four share a fiberglass-reinforced polymer frame wrapped around a serialized internal chassis, which is the part that carries the number.
What stays the same across the line is the 4-inch unthreaded barrel, fixed sights, 188 mm overall length and a 33 mm width that carries well under a jacket on a cold Iowa morning. The slide is cut for a direct-mount red dot. The refined SFDA trigger measures 25±4 N, about 5.6 pounds, with a 4 mm reset. Capacity runs 15+1 in the C and 17+1 in the F, with extended base plates adding two rounds. The price CZ suggests is $729.
Compact means 15+1 rounds in a frame 5.3 in (135 mm) high. Fit the longer base plate and it holds 17+1. At 27.2 oz (770 g) unloaded it sits between a pocket pistol and a full-size gun, which is exactly where a carry-and-bedside 9mm belongs.
The chassis is serial-numbered and modular, which is CZ's way of making the frame module swappable. The frame itself is fiberglass-reinforced polymer, 1.3 in (33 mm) wide, on a four-inch barrel and a 7.4 in (188 mm) overall length. The SFDA trigger breaks at 25 ± 4 N (5.6 ± 0.9 lbs) and resets in 0.16 in (4 mm). Optics mount directly to the slide; the photos from CZ show Holosun, Aimpoint and Shield footprints.
No external safety here. The firing pin block, trigger safety and trigger-bar safety handle drop safety, and the holster handles the rest. CZ sells the same gun with a frame-mounted lever as the MS model.
Best fit: concealed carry where your state allows it, home defense, and range time that does not need a full-size grip. Shooters coming from a CZ 75 will recognize the grip angle; shooters coming from any other striker gun will notice the trigger first.
Whether you are in Des Moines, Cedar Rapids or out of state, the pistol ships to the FFL dealer you select at checkout. That dealer handles the transfer paperwork and applies the rules of your state when you come to collect it. Pick a dealer who takes transfers and enter their details with your order, and the tracking number follows by email.

Frequently asked questions
- Is the compact small enough for everyday carry?
- At 135 mm tall, 188 mm long and 33 mm wide with 15+1 on board, the C sits in the same class as other compact 9mm carry guns while keeping a 4-inch barrel.
- What is the difference between the plain and MS versions?
- Both have a firing pin block, trigger safety and trigger bar safety; the MS adds a manual thumb safety for shooters who want a lever to flip.
- Does the CZ DUTY 4.0 C take CZ P-10 magazines?
- CZ lists the DUTY with its own 15-round magazine and an extended base plate for 17+1. P-10 magazine fit is not confirmed, so plan on DUTY magazines.
- Is the compact easy to shoot?
- It shares the 4-inch barrel and slide with the full-size gun, so the sight radius is the same. Only the grip is shorter.
